How is the cost of a move determined?
Your quote is based on several factors including your inventory and total cubic ft., flights of stairs, the proximity of entrances to our truck, etc.  Providing as many details as you can beforehand will ensure the best and most accurate quote possible.   

What is an In-Home Estimate?
During a FREE In-Home Estimate, an estimator from our team will come to your home to complete a visual survey of the items you plan to move.  Our estimators are experts at this and will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate of how much your move will be, how many boxes you will need, how long the move should take, etc.  In addition, they will evaluate the need for any additional services such as packing and unpacking, appliance preparation, custom crating, and storage.

What is included in my flat rate fee?
All of our moves include disassembly and reassembly of any furniture.  All items will be carefully wrapped with moving pads or crated with cardboard, as needed.  We’ll also provide furniture covers, TV boxes, picture bins for frames and artwork, and wardrobe boxes for your clothes on hangers.  We will also provide any necessary Certificates of Insurance (COIs) at no additional charge.  Our flat rates also include all costs related to labor, fuel, parking tickets, muni-meter fees, and taxes, so you can feel confident that there won't be any additional charges beyond your quote.

Will Octomovers disassemble and reassemble my furniture?
Yes. All of our moves include disassembly and reassembly of basic furniture like beds, dining tables, kitchen tables and mirrors of your furniture.  Our moving team performs this work on a daily basis, making the process efficient and relatively quick.  We cannot disassemble couches, but we do work with experts who can.

How do I book my move?
In order to schedule your move, just give us a call at 212.328.1176.  Please note a $50 deposit is required during booking in order to reserve your moving date.  The balance of your payment will be collected the morning of your move.  Payment can be made with cash, money order, certified check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX) on the day of.

Can you provide moving boxes and packing supplies?
Absolutely!  If you need moving boxes, just let us know when scheduling your move.  We can help you determine how many boxes you will need and we’ll even deliver the supplies to your home before the move. 

What are some ways I can save money on my move?
The best way to save money on your move is to dispose of items you don’t want or need any more prior to packing.  The fewer items you have to move, the lower the cost will be.  Another factor that allows you to save money on your move is your moving date.  Moving companies are busiest during “peak week”, the first and last week of every month.  Avoiding this timeframe can help you save significant money.  For further details, please do not hesitate to call us with any questions.  We’re happy to help!

Am I expected to tip the movers?  If so, how much?
You are not expected to tip, and our movers will never ask.  Our primary focus is completing your move to the best of our ability.  If you are happy with our service, however, the industry standard is typically 15-20%.  Tips are a great way to show that you appreciate the movers’ attention to detail, diligence, and effort in caring for your belongings.
